South Park Neighborhood Scholarship

Fueled by Lamar University’s commitment to increasing educational opportunities in the South Park neighborhood, the Office of Academic Affairs is excited to collaborate with the community on improving academic achievement. This collaboration is aimed at increasing higher education opportunities for the neighborhood’s youth. The scholarship will be awarded to the students that display a clear commitment to their education, promising academic success and embody the spirit of the South Park neighborhood in Beaumont. The scholarship will provide 4 years/8 long semesters of tuition, fees, room, board and a book stipend.

This scholarship is open to first time in college Freshman entering LU in Fall 2019, who have graduated high school in the top 50% of their class. Recipients must be be enrolled full-time, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.8, be a US citizen or permanent resident, have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and must be a member of the South Park neighborhood (Beaumont).

Applicants must submit Proof of Residency (2 forms) and an essay that serves as evidence of leadership and involvement, outstanding character and service to the community and school.

  2. Please provide Proof of Residency (2 forms) for the South Park neighborhood - Acceptable forms: school records, utility bill, voter registration card, housing lease/contract, mortgage statement, property or income tax statement, document issued by the city, county, state or federal government.
